If you know nothing about Gabon, and you’re looking to change that then you’re in luck.

Population

In Gabon, there are 1.5 million people. Sixty percent of those people are Christian, and around 39% practice traditional religions.  The official language of Gabon is French, however Fang, Myene, Nzebi, Bapounou and Bandjabi are others spoken.

Government

For the next four years, Ali Bongo Ondimba will be the president of Gabon. Gabon is a republic government.

Culture

With over 40 different ethnic groups such as Eshira, Mbeda,  Bakota and Omyene,  Gabon is very culturally diverse.  In Gabon, a very popular method of entertainment is making and wearing masks.

Education

The adult literacy rate nowadays is 75% for males and 53% for females. Hopefully, the literacy rate will go up considering Gabon is one of the few countries that provides a free education.

Wealth

Contrary to the popular stereotype that every country in Africa is poor, Gabon is doing extremely well with their money. Gabon is one of the richest countries south of the sahara, where their main source of income comes with exploitation of forests. However, despite the large amount of money that they have, it is not all evenly distributed causing some poverty in Gabon.

Land

¾ of Gabon is covered in forests, and 20% of their land is available for farming. I think it’s great for them to have so many plants, because having forests and other plants makes the place look so much prettier.

Fun Facts

The capital city is Libreville, and another popular city in Gabon is Port-Gentil. Being so close to the ocean, a very popular meal to eat in Gabon is fish.  The show Survivor came to Gabon one season, the mixed tribe was named ‘Nobag’ because that’s Gabon backwards.  Patience Dabanay, a famous singer was born in Gabon. People from Gabon wear western style clothing.

You should visit this country because it has lots of very beautiful plantlife. Who wouldn't want to go a place with so many beautiful trees and flowers? It's also a very rich country. Going to a country with lots of money would be better than going somewhere that's badly suffering from poverty. Another amazing reason to go there is because of the free education. Having an education at all is an upside, but in Gabon you can get one for free. The only downside to Gabon, is that the wealth is very unevenly distributed. I dislike this, because it's not fair if theres millionaires with a lot of extra leftover money, and people who are barely even making a living. In conclusion, Gabon is an amazing country and I'd be thrilled to go there.
