Nigeria
Nigeria is a western country in Africa surrounded by Niger, Benin, Cameroon and Chad. Nigeria has about 170 123 740 people. Nigeria has the most twin child births in the world. The main language spoken in Nigeria is English. The country of Nigeria is 923 768 km2. Nigeria has a life expectancy of 47 years of age. The name of Nigeria is named from the Niger River. The Niger River is the third biggest river in Africa.
The most common language in Nigeria is English. There are a lot of different types of food in Nigeria such as rice, meats, soups and stews. People in Nigeria have a lot different types of clothing. In the North men wear a cloth like robe called a Riga. Women wear dresses and cloths over their heads. In east men wear short robes and women wear skirts and blouses. In south and west the clothing are similar, men wear robes and cloth caps. Women wear headpieces and long blouses. The country is mostly Muslim but some Nigerians are Christians. They have a lot of festivals, dancing and music.
Some crops grown in Nigeria are cocoa which is exported as chocolate, rubber which is exported as tires, tobacco exported as cigarettes. They also export vitamins and coco-cola products. Nigerian government is federal republic (same as USA). There are 36 states and 774 local government areas. Nigeria has a poverty rate of .423 which is considered low. Nigeria is the 8th largest oil producer in the world.
ActionAide Nigeria is an organization that is trying to illuminate poverty in Nigeria. There work covers education, health, hiv and aids, women’s rights and democratic government. WaterAid started work in Nigeria in 1995; they want communities to get access to clean water. Only half the population has clean water. SOS children is an organization that provides for orphan or abandoned children.
One of the problems with international aid is that when the government receives the money, it doesn’t always go to help the people in the way they should. In July 2005, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission discovered at over the past 40 years, $500 billion was stolen by the military government.
You should go to this country because you can eat good food, go to dancing festivals, and canoe in the 3rd biggest river in Africa. Reasons you shouldn't go are if you live there, you might not get all the money you make, sometimes dont get enough clean water. life expectancy is only 47 years
